Research Committee Report

 

In 2016 and 2017 the Research Committee continued to educate the public about important research on psychopathy by providing 4 new summaries, the first being, “Impaired integration: A new theory of psychopathy”, for the journal article by Drs. K. Hiatt-Racer and J. Newman and graduate student R. Hamilton “Impaired integration in psychopathy: A unified theory of psychopathic dysfunction (2015)”. Click here to read the summary on the Aftermath website.

 

The second summary was, “The role of positive child-parent relationships in children with callous-unemotional traits”, for the journal article by Drs. G. Kochanska, S. Kim, L. Boldt, and J. Yoon, “Children’s callous-unemotional traits moderate links between their positive relationships with parents at preschool age and externalizing behavior problems at early school age (2013)”. Click here to read the summary.

 

The third summary was, “Links between psychopathic traits and social motivations”, for the journal article by Drs. L. Foulkes, A. Seara-Cardoso, C. Neumann, J. Rogers and E. Viding “Looking after number one: Associations between psychopathic traits and measures of social motivation and functioning in a community sample of males (2014)”. Click here to read the summary.

 

The final summary was, “Individuals with psychopathic traits: Are they able to mimic fear and remorse”, for the journal article by Drs. A. Book, and A. Forth and graduates students T. Methot, N. In 2016, the Research Committee started posing questions to experts in the field of psychopathy and to provide members of the Foundation with the opportunity to pose any questions they had to psychopathy experts, “Ask the expert questions”, so that members could ask questions anytime. The first expert to answer questions was Dr. Stephen Porter, University of British Columbia-Okanagan.
